Background Check!

For this background I wanted to demonstrate how you can get a little something extra from your 6x6 cover dies. I wanted to change it up a little and make a slimline card, but I wanted a layered background. I decided to use the cover die, and just cut it in half! I cut a little from each side, leaving the top and bottom border for stability. I used a piece of the same cardstock for a band in the middle, hiding the cut section. It looks perfectly fine, and no one will ever know your secret (except for everyone reading this post)!

What’s the one card we need immediately? Sadly, it’s a sympathy card, so I like to have a few on hand. I used a verse that I like from the With Deepest Sympathy set.

For this background, I ink smooshed over the Feeling Dotty stencil, using the Autumn Festival watercolor markers. I kept most of the ink in the center, knowing that I was going to use a simple black image on the right side, and the sentiment at the top. I’ll admit the smooshing part took a little bit of patience, but I was happy with the look, so I stopped and walked away (usually so tough to do!).
