It’s all in the (Beautiful) Details

I finally started my AECP classes, and as I looked over the list of 10, I thought I would tackle the most daunting first - Beautiful Details. It looked so easy on the videos, take a fine tip marker, or color pencil and just add little highlights. There’s a reason why I stamp - because I can’t draw!

I chose the Positive Vibes stamp set because the floral was pretty on its own, but it could be embellished. I took a deep breath and dove in! I used the Sugarplums Crisp Ink set because I thought those colors would lend themselves to a little “embellishment”.

So here’s the crazy part, once I started, I had trouble making myself stop! I used a white gel pen to add some detail to the petals and to the center of the flowers. I finally stepped away, and realized I had trouble stopping!

Finishing was fun! This was the first Slimline (3.5 x 8.5) card I’ve ever made, and the extra length gave me the opportunity to add a bold sentiment from the Block Sentiments stamp set.

I trimmed the card panel to give me a 1/4” margin, so I decided to go back to the Sugarplums ink and used the Amethyst ink and a large blending tool to add some color to the edges, focusing on the corners where there was no stamping.

I’m trying not to second guess myself about adding some extras to the card, splatter, sequins, enamel dots, something, but at this point I was afraid to ruin it. I did the most difficult thing any artist can do - I walked away!

I hope you enjoyed this - I enjoyed this more than I anticipated, so look for more (beautiful) details!

Take care, and be kind!

XO
