Stamp Layering Fun

My first class for the AECP was Stamp Layering 1. I’ve been using the layered flower Altenew stamps for years, but I learned a number of good tips and tricks from Nicole. If you are new to Altenew, this is a great place to begin.

I used the Watercolor Wonders stamp set for this particular card. The beauty of this set is that you aren’t locked into a particular color scheme - honestly, the more you vary the colors, the better it looks!

Altenew sells their inks as color families, so I took advantage of that in my color planning. I used the second shade in each family, which gave me a similar hue and value for each (look for a post explaining that soon). It’s also a very forgiving set, so if your layering isn’t perfect, it still looks good! Win-win!

I thought the white background looked a little sad, so I added the Dotted Scales Debossing Die, just to give the card a little extra “oomph”.

I decided that the greeting from Hello and Hugs needed a little love too, so I die cut it from gold cardstock after stamping and die cutting it on white cardstock. I liked the way it looked with the gold offset.

I used three of the die-cut flowers and lined them up along the open edge, then I cut off the excess. I don’t do this often, and I have to admit it hurt just a little bit!

I hope you like the card and are inspired to vary your colors, and not be afraid to give your images a little “haircut”!

Until next time - take care and be kind
