Mini Flower Cluster (part 2)
Welcome back! This card came together from an idea I’ve carried in my head for a few weeks.
It started when I was playing around with the Mini Flower Cluster layering die set. I was experimenting with some shades from the Rock Collection Crisp Die inks, and decided that I’d try some ink “smooshing”. Ink what, you ask? Smooshing is the most fun technique - ever! You use a non-porous surface (like plastic) and dot the surface with ink, then spritz the ink with a little bit of water and “smoosh” the paper onto the ink.
I did have to refer to the layering guide that came with the die set to determine which layers needed to be in darker tones, and which needed to be lighter. You can see what I mean by looking at the photo below. You can also see the spotting caused by the water drops interacting with the ink.
Now that I had my focal point, I sat with it for a week or so, then I saw some videos with thin paper strips, and thought I’d use Altenew’s thin washi tapes, instead of paper strips. I grabbed my set of Red Sunset Slim Washi tapes and used them to mark off the center of the card, as a base for the flowers.
I have a stash of stamped and embossed greetings from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set, and the “HELLO THERE” greeting was understated enough to not overwhelm the simplicity of the card design.
This card really came together quickly, and I was pretty tickled with the result (if I say so myself)!
Thanks for reading along.
Until next time, take care and be kind!
XOXO
