Altenew Build-A-Garden: Magnificent Branch Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($200 total prizes)

If you are following the hop, you came here from the incredibly talented Daniel Diaz, I’m so excited to be joining some very talented folks to celebrate the release of a whole new Subscription Bundle - Build a Garden! Each bundle includes a beautiful, oversized image, and the layering stencil to color it. There’s also a blender brush to get you started (if you haven’t used the stencil or brush before, they are life-changing!) This is a totally new concept which replaces the Build a Flower subscription, and gives you the opportunity to create 2 cards from one stamp, or one gorgeous image for a scrapbook, or home decor project. Isn’t that a great way to maximize your stash?

I used a technique I’ve always called “eclipse”, but you may have a different name for it. Basically, part of the image is in color, and the rest is left as black & white. Having a good layering stencil is key to pulling this off, and this one is perfect!

I did mine two different ways. For this card, I stamped the image twice, cut out a small circle, and used the layering stencil to color in the circular image. The tricky part is attaching the small image in the exact spot on the black & white image.

The second card uses masking to create the full-color section. I stamped the image once, then cut a circle from a piece of Altenew Masking Paper, and placed the mask over the stamped area, leaving a small, uncovered circle. Again, I used the Layering Stencil included in the Bundle, to color the image, this time using the Sugarplums set of inks. I added some Satin White sequins and some fine black splatters to fill in some of the white space.
